The class VW split window bus is one of my favorite vehicle designs of all time. It’s a great example of minimalist German design from an era when gaudy chrome was dominating the US market. Built from 1947-1967 the “splittie” is has a culture all its own. Through the website VintageBus, I found another really cool site, CarType. Though CarType has many, many interesting articles the one I landed on was about advertising on classic VW splitties. Most of, if not all of these buses were hand painted and someday I hope to restore a splittie for Nice Life.
Total coincidence that I posted this today and that happened.
